DEBORAH GEORGE DEVELOPMENT
Overview
Deborah George Development is a privately owned retail development company focusing on regional centers that provide rural areas with urban shopping. Ms.George established the second Walmart Store in the state of New Hampshire located at the regional shopping center known as George’s Field in the town of Hinsdale, which serves a key tri-state area of New England with state sales tax-free shopping. The Walmart Store, which anchored George’s Field for nearly 20 years became Walmart’s most successful New England store on a sales per sq. ft basis. Walmart ultimately required doubling of their square footage. This prompted a move from George’s Field to a nearby location where Ms. George was tapped by Walmart to develop George’s Outfield, which serves as the Walmart shadow pad sites. After Walmart relocated nearby, Deborah George Development chose Runnings, a 80-store mid-west retailer that expanded to New England and provides home, farm and fleet merchandise. Like Walmart, the Runnings store at George’s Field is the second Runnings store in the state of New Hampshire and has become that state’s #6 most successful and active store in its retail category.
